JC is my nephew. Below is a conversation we had while decorating cookies last fall. He was in first grade at the time.
Me: “JC, what’s your favorite subject in school?”
JC: “Lunch and playground.”
Me: “What’s your girlfriend’s name?”
JC (giggling): “Auntie M I don’t have a girlfriend.”
Me: “Then who’s your best friend?”
JC: “I have LOTS of best friends.”
Me: “Tell me about them.”
J.C. “Well God is my first best friend....”
I wasn’t listening anymore. I was pondering the wisdom out of the mouth of babes. And I wondered..... If asked, would God be listed as my first best friend? I certainly hope so. Who’s your ‘first’ best friend?
